See an eye doctor: Most of the time, flashes of light are related either to floaters (changes to the gel that fills the back of the eye), our less commonly migraines. If the flashes last for more than a day, or if there is a decrease in vision as well, see an eye doctor right away.

Migraine: Not necessarily, it can also be a migraine, you will need a complete evaluation.

Ocular Migraine: Common before migraine headaches.  Headaches often caused by Hypothyroidism, read book by Broda Barnes, MD called "Hypothyroidism".  He says blood tests rarely are correct in diagnosis and body temperature is more accurate.  I had 96.7 temp my whole life and not one ever noticed it.  Migraines stopped immediately with Armour thyroid.

Migraine?: I suspect a migraine aura which you could see at night or any other time. If you've never experienced this symptom before, make an appointment to see an eye md to reassure your eyes are okay. If you have other symptoms such as headache, nausea, &amp; vomiting,  medications may be prescribed if particularly frequent and severe. Usually tees events are stress related. May also have other triggers(food)

Ophthalmic migraine: Ophthalmic migraine is a condition where lights or irregular shapes occur lasting from 10 minutes to several hours. The vision may be obscured during this period.  These episodes are self limited and go away without treatment. There is no headache or nausea.

Probably nothing: But rarely it can mean tugging on the retina. Have it checked out.

P;robably nothing: Flashes mostly occur from instability at the interface between the retina and the vitreous overlying it.  While they can be an early warning of the risk of retinal detachment, most are benign - especially if the same pattern has persisted for many years.  A look by a retinal specialist ophthalmologist would be reasonable to make sure there are no problems.

Pvd: In both eyes, with some pulling on retina causing the flashes. Needs to be followed by ophthalmologist.

Flashing lights?: The gel in the back of the eye degenerates naturally &amp; during this process it tugs on the retina, causing flashing lights. Most commonly the end result are floaters in your vision, but sometimes a retinal tear. It is recommended that for persistent episodes of flashing lights, to be seen by an eye doctor for a dilated exam. This is to make sure that the retina is normal. Good Luck.
