ok on meds for 5 days due to ear infection.. sounds like pop fizzing in my ear with some pain.  meds not working.  help!

Ear infection: It sounds like your Eustachian tube is not ventilating. There is a tube that goes from the back of your throat to your middle,ear to help that space communicate with the back of your throat and drain or breath.
Opening this pathway up May relieve you of your symptoms. May people try the Valsalva  manoevur where you try to inflate the Eustachian tube. If not have your ear rechecked by your doctor.

Several things: This can be due to any process affecting the 8th nerve which allows you to hear. This includes the ear drum, middle ear, semicircular canals. Even external illnesses producing changes to that nerve thru pressure, inflammation, etc. Can do this. See an ENT doctor asap.

Reasonable idea: Hearing assessment can be done both by a physician generally or by an audiologist with specialized equipment. The best approach starts with the physician who can assess the ears for retained fluid or infection. Slow acquisition of speech is also a marker for other forms of developmental delay &amp; all areas deserve a close evaluation.

Pressure: Partial blockage of the eustacian tube which runs from the side of the back of the throat into the middle ear.  When this happens it creates a sensation of fullness.  You can try relieving this by thrusting your lower jay forward and your head back, or by holding your nostrils and blowing against a closed mouth (but be very careful with this), or use a nasal spray or decongestant or a sinus rinse.
