Fibromyalgia impact: Impact of symptoms is the best measure of disease severity. Dr. Robert bennett published the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (fiqr) that makes it easy for patients to find out. There is a "fibromyalgia" app that makes using and scoring fiqr easy.  Based on your fiqr score, you will know how you compare to other patients. This will give you a good idea whether you have fibromyalgia.

Yes: One can not take LDN with opiates/narcotics but it is safe to take with cannabis oil.
If you have fibromyalgia it would be worthwhile to see a "Lyme-literate doctor" to rule out Lyme, as most diagnosed with Fibromyalgia have undiagnosed Lyme.

Further consultation: While no indivudal advice or diagnosis can be given here, "typical drugs" mught cover a lot or a little ground.  If one has chronic pain for years and having daily crying, it woudl be wise to get second opinions, maybe psychiatric consultation, or if antidepressants or pain managment is being done on its own, involving a clinical psychologist to boost depression treatment and behavioral pain mgt.

Start with delayed: food allergy panel (Elisa Antigen testing) to see the whole spectrum of foods/environmental allergens that you are exposed to perhaps unknowingly. So you can begin to do an elimination diet to help repair your gut lining. This would be a start. Then work with an integrative doctor, who can monitor your progress, and medically manage you through this. Correcting your diet is the first step.

are drugs prescribed for long-term pain management addictive? i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and i'm a little worried that i'll end up addicted to whatever pain medication the doctor puts me on.

Addiction : Addiction is always a potential risk with any opioid medication (i.e. Hydrocodone, tramadol, oxycodone, et cetera). That said, each person's risk of addiction is variable, depending on a number of factors, including any past drug or alcohol abuse, prior problems with prescription medications and family history of addiction (this would only be a partial list).  I would highly suggest you discuss your concerns with your prescribing doctor.  Good luck!

i am taking cymbalta (duloxetine) for fibromyalgia and have gained 20lbs with hand and feet swelling. are there other drugs that treat fibromyalgia with less side ?

Possibly: All medication have side effects.  There are a number of medication that are indicated for fibromyalgia.   Lyrica, savella, (milnacipran) effexor, Pristiq and muscle relaxants have all been shown to be helpful for fibro.  Regular, moderate, non-impact aerobic exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy have been shown to be as if not more effective than medication and have almost no adverse effects.
