You may need some psychotherapy.  You may need to volunteer and work with others less fortunate than you.

But, this obsession is not the reason you are alive.  You are here to grow, to love and to heal and then to help others.

Can be all those: All of us need to have some healthy self-interest -- healthy narcissism -- to deal with life.  But when this becomes greatly exaggerated,  squeezing out the needs of others, we get into difficulty.  There are narcissistic personality disorders which maybe 4-7% of our society has.  These involve fixed patterns of relating with several criteria.  Yes it is treatable - with great care and patience.

Criticizing mom: I don't know specifically why your mother is criticizing others -- we'd need to ask her about it.  However, many people who criticize others are very uncomfortable with themselves.  They often point out the same flaws in others that they're anxious or ashamed about in themselves.  Also, some depressed people have very negative outlooks, because the illness brings an unbalanced point of view.

help! my blood test allergy says i am very highly allergic to dogs! but i had a high shed dog for 4 years and nothing ever happened.is results flawed?

No: The test only shows that you have an antibody reacting to the dog but whether you will have symptoms on exposure or not depends on many other factors including the amount of allergen the dog produces. I suspect that you do have some degree of nasal congestion nonetheless.

Vasculitis: The most likely diagnoses are: lupus, polyarteritis nodosa, wegeners granulomatosis, and sarcoidosis. I would also test for syphilis, lyme, and erlichiosis. Let your doctor know if you have any symptoms outside the eye area also; that can help sort out the cause of your problem.

is orthotropics a real alternative for an overbite instead of surgery? the research and reasoning is pretty solid. orthodontics does seem flawed.

: It seems to be an approach that is not generally accepted by the orthodontics community. An orthodontist friend believes in it but most are skeptics.
