However, while nearly all adults have had fever blisters about none have herpes infections of the eyes, so, this must not be very high at all.

Likely a stye: By far the most common lesion in your age group is an early stye.  You can treat this with generous application of very warm wash cloths (not hot).  Herpes would be in one place, with blistering on the skin.

Abreva: Abreva is available over the counter and is effective if you catch the cold sore at the very beginning of the outbreak.  If it is more progressed you may want to see your doctor or urgent care for oral medications.  It is possible to transmit it to another person by kissing them when the cold sore is active.

Nasociliary nerve: The varicella zoster virus (chickenpox) can reactivate simultaneously in the eye and the tip of the nose.  Known as hutchinson's sign, the common pathway is the nasociliary nerve. This is theoretically possible with herpes simplex virus (fever blisters), but that virus usually affects the lips, the eyes and the genitals.See an ophthalmologist asap to prevent complications of inflammation.

Wash your hand: Wash your hands and eyes. If your eyes still burns, go to see a doctor. Since it is hours later after you applied the medication, likely nothing left on your hands. But next time, apply the medication with a q tip.

No: A "fever blister" also known as "cold sore" is manifestation of the herpes virus - type 1, which is very common and typically only manifests in the way you're currently experiencing. Exposure to the mucus membranes of the eye cannot cause you to develop a blister in the eye. Best wishes.

Specific Anxiety : First, how often are you getting these "fever blisters"?  You might want to consult a dermatologist for treatment options. More importantly, you mention that you have an anxiety disorder, and you have tried behavior therapy.  Your anxiety sounds like a specific phobia - try another behavioral specialist. I would recommend an experienced psychologist.  Anti-anxiety medication also could help.
