Accepted Answer

Multiple reasons: certainly heat exhaustion, severe dehydration and infection are possibilities. Acute, sudden onset suggests infection ; however, heat exposure must be evaluated clinically.

Hyperthermia: A heat wave can cause hyperthermia, an increase in core body temperature. This is sometimes called heat stroke and is a potentially life-threatening emergency and must be treated immediately by reducing your core body temp.
A fever is a physiologic response to infection that originates inside the brain's "thermostat." a fever is a natural response and often requires no treatment at all.

Hot flashes: At your age, the most likely cause of this is hot flashes secondary to menopause. Menopause is when women no longer menstruate or produce female hormones, which can lead to hot flashes and other signs (mood wings, irritability, trouble sleeping, loss of libido, vaginal dryness)

Not unless dehydrate: External environmental temperatures will not generally elevate body temperatures unless you become dehydrated.  If a baby has a fever it is almost always the result of some infection, most often viral, gut if they have other symptoms, see a pediatrician or family doctor.

Hard to answer: Body temperature raised as result of exposure to the heat can run the whole range of treatments: if it is a small fever, say under 102, without other symptoms: get into shade, cool area, hydrate a lot. If other symptoms/higher temp involved, hydration is imperative, cool the neck, armpits, groin area and possibly seek med attention. If heat stroke, it is a 911 emergency, the younger the worse!

Has to be seen: Skin and soft tissue infection over the buttock and upper inner thigh are pretty common.  Once abscess is formed, incision and drainage are required.

Heat-related illness: In warm/hot climates, if temp + humidity get high enough, body can't cool off via sweating & body temp rises leading to heat cramps or even heat stroke. Problem made worse of u take psych meds or meds for leg cramps. Keep hydrated. Get out of heat. Cool showers. If temp over 103º call ambulance. Monitor daily heat index for days to stay in a/c.

Could be many things: She needs to get checked out. Touch is not a very good test of temperature since it is dependent on feeling the difference between tow objects. A more objective test might be required. Also, a simple body temperature reading like temporal or oral temperature would be more objective. A complete exam with possibly some lab tests like a blood count and cmp may also help sort out what is going on.

Thyroid?: This could potentially be a thyroid issue. If you are intolerant to heat, losing weight, not sleeping this would lead me to believe that this is your thyroid. None the less it may be of benefit to be evaluated for a metabolic problem.
