Core Decompr. "CD": Cd can be done as an inpatient procedure with a short hospitalization, but there is a recent trend toward doing it on an outpatient basis. Patients are usually maintained on partial weightbearing with crutches for 6 weeks to 3 months.

Other procedures have higher morbidity complications, and require more vigorous protection from weightbearing, usually 3+ mos.

i had core decompression done on both my hips in january.how long does full recovery normally take?i have improved but is it normal to still have a little pain (groin area & where drillings where made) especially when its cold, & the clicking sound?

Full recovery from: this procedure may take up to 6 to 12 months to heal fully.  You may be on crutches for 6-12 weeks. I'm not sure when you submitted your question, but you may have had the surgery 11+ months ago now. If you just have a little pain and some clicking, that could well be considered normal. Mention it to you orthopedic surgeon the next time you see her/him in follow-up. Stay well:)

: We do not have enough info for an appropriate advice. The choice depends upon the extent of involvement and location of disease so her orthopedist should know best. In general, for a a young patient I would consider conservative approaches first, i.e. Joint-preserving procedures, if possible.

No but...: Generally this is not expected to cause pain and is benign. If it continues to be painful follow up with your physician because i know of one case where this was assumed to be a benign cyst and it turned out to be metasitized cancer. So have someone biopsy the cyst if it continues to be painful.

Trouble healing: These heal poorly without surgical assistance any intraarticulat fracture carries risk of post traumatic arthritis and chronic pain.

The bone will be : Soft not hard bescuse the bone  lost it is mineral.Avascular necrosis occurs when blood flow to a bone is interrupted. Loss of blood flow can result from joint injury, narrowed or clogged blood vessels (from fat or sickle cell anemia), or from excessive pressure inside the joint.

Specific details: To answer this one would need to look at  graph mapping out the normal range of a the head circumference and femur length at this gestational age. No one can do that in their head. The best thing to do is to contact the doctor who ordered the test and ask if these measurements fall within the normal range.

Yes : Total refers to both sides of the hip joint - are replaced often metal on one side (the ball) and a special plastic on the other side the cup. Partial is where only one side is replaced usually the ball.

Revascularization: Basically observation to start with, for very early AVN, as well as elimination of potential causes such as alcohol or steroids.  There are revascularization surgeries that can be done which may preclude the need for hip replacement.
