Rib injury: Sometimes X-ray will miss small fractures of the ribs. I would suggest you wait two weeks until you return to ice and/or you have no pain.

i fell on my rib cage and now im in tremendous pain when i move, speak loudly or even breathe deeply. what could be the problem is my rib cage swollen?

Rib fracture ?: Trauma in the form of a fall  could lead to a rib fracture.
Please go to the nearest ER or Urgent care so they could take an Xray of your chest and ribs. Apply ice for 10 mintues every hour. If not allergic, take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen.  This could be very serious so please go to nearest ER. Best wishes.

i fell on my ribs while i was sledding at the snow i went to the dr and he didn't take any x-rays...he gave me vicodin and motrin and now  back pain?

Need X-rays: Since you had trauma, x-rays are indicated.  If it shows some broken ribs then it will take time to heal and the pain will improve with time and meds.  Spine fracture would be less common given your age.  If you do not feel better in the next week i would go back for further evaluation.

fell on my right ribs . went to urgent care . no broken bones detected. still in pain,when lying down,pulling anything,bending and deep breathing after 3 weeks. should i see a doctor or wait it out ?

: Most likely pulled some rib joints and taking time to heal. Your body is talking to you.  Listen and take good notes and you all will figure it out and it will eventually get better.  Discuss the use of anti-inflammatory agents with your team. Try and take notes with each till you find the best one. Heating pad may help. Don't burn yourself.

i had a bike accident on 14th may. a car hit from behind and me and wife fell down on left side. ribs started paining after about 4 days..

Consultation advised: If you are saying that you fell on your left side but didn't develop pain till 4 days later, that would generally indicate that you didn't sustain a rib fracture(which would be very painful on breathing the day of the fall). Where is the location of the pain? Is there any tenderness? Does it hurt to breath? Consider a Health Tap Prime consultation for more specific advice.

Hard to say: This is hard to interpret without an exam and review of the injury. The spleen is an organ tucked under the ribs in that location &amp; could have been bruised &amp; the ribs could also. If it has not improved in 5 days it is worth having him examined.

Not known.: Without an obvious bony deformity it would take an x-ray to know if one or more ribs are fractured. Note that you have osteoporosis. If you are in significant pain would encourage you to seek medical evaluation.
