Location?: Probably the most common cause would be gas pain.  Some gas X or a generic version of that should help.  Lots of other possibilities from a urinary tract infection to constipation.  Need more information about the location and other symptoms.

Poss ovulation: Depending on where you are in your cycle, it may be pai from ovulation. if so, it should get better. Right sided can also be appendix, but usually you are sick and the pain gets worse.

You need check up: You may have pelvic infection, ot urological problem.You need to have a thorough history and physical, may be blood and urine test and if indicated by exam some imaging like ultrasound or cat scan to find the cause of your symptoms and get appropriate treatment.

May be preterm labor: If getting rhythmic cramping or regular contractions, it may be preterm labor. One can be checked by her Ob-Gyn doctor. That may mean going to the hospital to the Labor and Delivery ward to be monitored to see what is going on, depending on how the doctor handles these issues at 6 months gestation. Meanwhile, avoid physical activities, having sex, or bumpy car rides... until cleared by the doctor.

Not necessarily: Contractions are just cramping of the muscle. The uterus may contract when a woman is not pregnant - menstrual cramps are "contractions" of the uterine muscle. In addition, a female orgasm is accompanied by uterine contractions. However, some rhythmic pains in the lower abdomen may be the result of intestinal or ovarian pain. If these persist, you should see your doctor.

Hard to: Answer, contractions not atypical at 34. Weeks make sure no bleeding and feeling the baby move but no way to predict when u will deliver.  Good luck.

Infection?: Cramping can be caused by things like pelvic infections (stds). If you period is near, you might also have it.  Some women can feel when they ovulate, which is painful for some people. This is called mittelschmerz.

Yes: If you have unprotected sex, you can be pregnant. Sometimes, you may not have any symptoms. Often, later in the pregnancy, you may notice your belly getting bigger, absence of periods, fetal movement, contractions. 
A urine test will help answer your question and a visit to your OB can help you with that.
