That : That can be a very concerning feling.  When a bug really is in the ear it is usually quite painful.  It may need a doctor to remove it.  More often that not, that feeling af a bug is due to inflammation of the very sensitive skin of the ear canal.  A physician may be able to determine the cause and give appropriate recommendations.

Hard to do: You can suspect it if you have odd feelings of something in the canal, or movement therein. You could put some mineral oil in the ear and drown any bug. Then let the material drain out. However, that would be a bad idea if you had a hole in the drum. At some point you need your doc to look &amp; see.

Exam is needed: One's primary care doctor, or an Urgent Care or ER doctor, can take a look into the ear to see what is there. If there is an insect in the ear, depending on size and situation, the doctor might have to remove it under a magnifying microscope. A small bug might be flushed out water. Usually, the doctor will squirt in lidocaine to put the bug to sleep first.

Primary doctor: First person to see for burning in your ear is your primary care doctor.  They can easily diagnose and treat an inner or outer ear infection.  If after treatment that does not improve, he/she should refer you to a ENT physician.

None: Maggots are the larva form of development of the common house fly. They arise from the multiple eggs laid by a fly. They themselves do not lay eggs. A fly has to enter your ear to lay multiple eggs.  If you had a larva come out of ear there would be multiple larvae coming out of your ear. I doubt that you had a larva coming out of your ear. Have your ear checked by a doctor to make sure.

ENT: If your sure there is a bug in there, put rubbing alcohol into ear canal. But will die. Then see ENT doc to remove the bug.

Insect  in the ear: If dead, flush with water. If alive, first tilt head to.the affected side, it should fly out. If not, put small amount of vegetable oil, it  will get suffocated and come out.

i heard buzzing and a bug landed on my ear hole. as i went to pick my ear, the buzzing stopped and hasn't returned. is the bug inside my ear?

Possibly: It could still be there but more than likely it flew away. Best to leave your ear alone but have it checked out if it continues to bother you.
