Acid reflux: Could be acid reflux, try some Tums (calcium carbonate) over the counter and watch what you are eating, no junk food, sodas or fried food.

Check fibroids, cyst: Depending on your mother's age, medical and obstetric history, she needs to be examined by her doctor to rule out fibroid disease or other cystic conditions in the abdomen and pelvis that can cause a bulge in the abdominal area.

Physical exam : It could be due to gaseous distension, but the only absolute way of getting it sorted out is  a physical examination and then possible imaging as thought to be appropriate by either your primary care physician or a GI specialist, particularly in the setting where you feel something that is moving.

A gastric outlet obstruction or gastroparesis could cause your symptoms, as could medications, other gastrointestinal diseases, and several other causes. An exam can usually find cause. Anything: Most people think their whole abdomen is their stomach, but the stomach is in the upper middle or upper left of the abdomen.  If your lower abdomen hurts, that could be your skin, muscles, bladder, uterus, or intestines. If the upper part of your abdomen hurts, it could be acid reflux, pancreatitis, or other problems. See a doctor for an assessment.

Organs in that: Area are colon, appendix, intestine, ovary, ureter.  Any tumor or inflammatory condition could present as mass.  Or it could be something more superficial, such as hernia or muscle spasm.  There are literally 100's of causes, so you need to see a doctor to help yo figure this one out.

Maybe, maybe not: A person whose stomach looks like a ball after eating, especially like a round soccer ball instead of an oblong football, would appear unusual. Even the stomachs of very slim people blend into their body contours after a big meal (but their tummies do seem bigger & firmer after eating). The person can make an appointment for after a big lunch, and show his doctor the ball-shaped tummy.

Feeling gassy or?: Feeling full of "gas" may reflect malabsorption of food (like gluten, lactose), intake of poorly digested food, or choosing foods known to promote gas (beans, fizzy drinks).  Sometimes its more complicated--a stomach emptying too slowly, bacterial overgrowth syndrome, delayed intestinal function, partial obstruction from any cause, infection, rectum problems, and pelvic pathology outside the gut.
