Since you have looked and found no  source or extra tissue externally it is likely to be internal hemorrhoids. Over the counter medications may help along with SITZ baths. If it worsens, becomes painful or does not clear seek a consult with your physician.

Hernia?: Abdominal mass that hurts to touch or to strain sounds like a ventral hernia. A medical exam can usually determine that. Sometimes ultrasound is needed. Usually not dangerous but if extreme pain develops then it might require emergency surgery. If truly constipated, Go-Lytely (prescription for colon clean out) will fix it every time. Weaker laxatives may not help. X-ray can confirm too much stool.

These would be temporary occurrences, and with persistently flat stools,especially if a change in the prior usual stool shapes, colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy would be indicated to check for obstructing lesions like growths or scarring of the colon.

: Colace is usually helpful for constipation with hard stool. Diet modification with increase in high fiber like bran, beans,  fresh fruits. Also drinking warm water instead of iced drinks tend to help. Consider prune Juice . Fleets Enema can help but  A visit with PCP/Gastroenterologist might help to prevent avoidable complications

A bit more info: First off: how do you know it's a sigmoid mass? Do you mean left lower quadrant mass? Does it go away ever? The answer to colonoscopic diagnosis depends on your symptoms like constipation, bleeding etc as well as family history. If there's a strong family history of colon CA than a c-scope might be warranted even if you didn't have a palpable mass

A CT of: The abdomen is very good at evaluating for bowel obstruction and may identify masses (depending on the size, location, and presence of oral/intravenous contrast).
