What's excessive?: Nobody likes shots.  Phobias grow as avoidance of the feared event increases.  Perhaps your fears have caused you to exaggerate the pain associated with shots. The fears can go away quickly.  I treated a person with shot phobias who shortly after starting treatment was dx'd with diabetes.  He had to start giving himself Insulin shots and lost his shot phobia in about one week. Quick cure!

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes they can overcome fear on needles.  I did, well, not as a kid. During medical school. Be supportive of your kid. Talk to him, rub his head/back when getting blood draws,  do happy talk. This will distract him (sometimes  it works, sometimes it does not).

Depends: There is a preparation designed for injection into muscle and another just under the skin. The rate of absorption would differ. It would be reasonable for you to contact that doc's office &amp; clarify what type was used in your case.

Tell MD: By all means get your injection. Tell nurse or md of your feelings, and be in a reclined position during, so if you do faint, you will be fine. Good luck!

after 2 shots of depo, i stopped for fear of becoming sterile. i got my period back immediately. am i likely i to become pregnant sooner than 12 mos?

Yes: When you stop birth control of any kind, the chance of getting pregnant if you're sexually active is very high.  
There is no 12 month rule with depo.  For some people it takes 12 months to begin cycling again, but for others it may take only 2 weeks.  
Use some form of birth control every time you come in contact with a penis if you don't want to get pregnant.

i used pvc and tpe dildos during my syphilis reinfection. i washed sex toys thoroughly before and after several uses. i haven't used the toys for almost 2 months. it's been over 14 days since penicillin shot. can i safely use same toys without fear?

: Sex toys if clean and used only by one person and mechanically safe, do not cause infection. How you use the toys after this info is your choice.

There are a few : Techniques that can work fairly quickly. Cognitive behavioral therapy using progressive desensitization (learning to relax ; then imagining the phobic event (needles) from least to most anxiety provoking image while relaxed. I usually do this using hypnosis as a relaxation technique, but you can use other relaxation methods. Find a therapist ; you will be able to get relief fairly quickly.

The : The combination of a trigger fingers that often stays locked, arthritis in the small joints of the fingers, tightness and swelling in the fingers,  and clinical deviation or deformity of some joints from more advanced arthritic changes can be overwhelming.
Despite your fear of the shots you may want ot try again but understand that the injection alone may not solve all these issues. Even surgery , that can end the locking phenomena may still leave you rjoints stiff and sore for the other reasoons/problems i mention.

Still do nothing and your not giving yourself a chance to get better

antiinflammatories may help somewhat but are palliative not curative.

See your pcp or see a hand surgeon, perhaps its time for reevaluation, new xrays another injection and possibly surgical treatment.
