It might: Do not change the dosage of your klonopin (clonazepam) without consulting the prescribing doctor.  He may be able to find a more useful medication for you to add to the klonopin (clonazepam) that would not be as addictive.

No: Those equivalences dont' work. But you should be speaking about this with your prescriber, who knows you and your particular fear of flying, as well as your medication history and your need for length of medication action.

Nervous Flyer: any of the benzodiazepines will work, they all are anti anxiety agents. There is no best, it is the physicians experience and choice.  Also the dose is experience and patient specific.  Discuss with your doctor and get the one he/she and you decide on.  A second opinion for this is like butts, everyone has one!

i have panic disorder with agoraphobia (got feared during mri),  taking clonazepam 0.5 mg 3 times a day. is it safe to take clonazepam for long time?

It's not best RX: The best treatment for panic disorder is to prevent attacks with a combination of psychotherapy and antidepressant drugs, particularly SSRI/SNRI's like sertraline, citalopram, venlafaxine (and many others).  Benzodiazepines produce tolerance, and over time the dose may need to be increased, and if they are stopped suddenly, a severe withdrawal can happen. Use of SSRIs regularly&amp;benzos for attacks.

Real risk: It is good that your blood pressure and lipids are controlled but you do have three risks for MI. Being male, hypertension and hyperlipidemia all put you at risk for MI. It is unlikely that you would have an MI at your age but there is still some risk.  It is very important that you start an exercise program as advised by your doctor and get your weight to an optimal level.

Clonazepam : Clonazepam is a highly effective medication for panic anxiety.  In most cases of panic anxiety, it should be taken every 12 hours, without extra doses, and should not be taken as needed.  Some alcoholics have panic anxiety as an underlying cause.  If panic is specifically diagnosed by psychiatric interview, then Clonazepam is one option that can be considered.  In someone with a history of alcoholism, there is reason for extra caution about the potential for abuse, about the ability to stay rigidly on an exact dose schedule, about possibly existing medical consequences of alcoholism, and other factors.  Although some clinicians do fear that Clonazepam may hinder sobriety, it is very possible that proper use may make sobriety more likely and more comfortable.

Aviophobia: There are three basic treatments for fear of flying severe enough to be classified as an anxiety disorder, systematic densensitization, cognitive therapy and medications. The severity of your phobia will determine which intervention(s)-ur family physician should be able to provide a referral to a the appropriate specialist.

Several ways: One way is to see a therapist for cognitive-behavioral therapy, and as you feel ready, have gradual exposure to your fear.  In some people, hypnosis can be effective.  There are also courses put out by airlines -- and by private parties such as:  http://www.Fearlessflight.Com/  of course, your physician may also prescribe you a low dose benzodiazepine such as Ativan or xanax (alprazolam) to use pre-flight.
