1000 mg: For general cardiovascular health it is recommended that you take 1000 mg omega 3 fatty acids. If you buy over the counter fish oil, 1000 mg fish oil does not translate into 1000 mg omega 3, please note the serving size and the omega-3 content in each pill. Most over the counter pills have only 300 mg dha and epa the active components of omega-3 per pill. You would need 3 of these pills to get 900.

Absolutely: The most common cause is lack of exercise, followed by alcohol overindulgence.  Other causes (diabetes, hepatitis c, several inborn errors of metabolism) have specific treatments.  I'm glad this was discovered, as it can become serious, but as long as cirrhosis hasn't supervened (which is a miserable way to die), you can probably take charge of your own recovery and enjoy doing it.

If we take in more food or energy than we use up every day, we will gain weight. Despite much "theory", animal work supporting the dangers is in my opinion very weak. Politicians have removed them from most foods. I don't miss them at all.

Keep a well balanced diet and make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Don't cut out exercise as it is very good for you. Weight lifting and other muscle building exercises can help you increase your body mass.

Combination: Make a mental choice to be healthier. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you eat. Eating the right calories including the proper amount of protein is very important.

Exercise will burn additional calories. However, strength training with elastic bands or weights builds muscle, which burns more calories at rest and also keeps metabolism up.  No easy or fast fix.  Work hard good luck.
