mri and xrays are not showing any fractures nor swelling. what can be causing my hand pain after a fall four years ago when i landed on the fleshy part of my hand underneath my thumb?

I doubt if the current pain has anything to do with the fall years ago unless this pain has persisted in the last 4 years.

the fleshy part of my hand under the thumb area has a dull, burning sensation that's been sore for over a month everyday, all day. any ideas? thanks

Burning in the hand: This sounds like a form of carpal tunnel syndrome. This pinching of the nerves going into the hand can especially affect the muscles that move the thumb. If not treated these muscles can deteriorate and you can get grip weakness.

It sounds like you need to be seen by a hand or nerve expert.

Arthritis: The most common place for arthritis of the hand is at the base of the thumb. This can cause pain in the fleshy part of thumb, known as the thenar emminance. See a board certified orthopaedic hand surgeon for evaluation and treatment.

i accidentally stapled myself in the fleshy part of my thumb and need to know if i need a tetanus shot? if so, what is the time frame to have it done?

Probably yes: Need Td booster only if more than 10 years since your last tetanus shot.  Get it within 48 hrs of injury

Wash area well (soap and water).  Cover with Bandaid

Overuse: Pain around the thumb is very common.  Causes range from tendinitis, muscle cramping, and arthritis.  Joint can also be lax and cause pain.  If rest, ice and anti-inflammatory meds don't help, get it checked out.

Reason: It may not be related to your miscarriage.  Many women in their forties begin having ovulation issues leading to heavy and painful periods.  Probably time to see your GYN for an evaluation.  This could be adenomyosis as well.

for a few days now, when i push the lower part of the mound at the base of my left thumb, it hurts in a dull way. if i dont, it just feels a little sore. i use my computer a lot. i try to take a break often. i'm right-handed. why and what can i do?

: Rather than arthritis or sprain, I would consider this an overuse syndrome. The joint and associated muscles must get rest. Hopefully you can still use the computer with a mouse while taking stress of that thumb.

OA: I would suggest that depending your ocupation, if pain is elicit with grabbing such as stiffness one of the most common places of affection in osteoarthritis is the base of the thumb. Pain and stiffness are some of the symptoms and a simple x rays of the hand can make the diagnosis.
