Burning in the hand: This sounds like a form of carpal tunnel syndrome. This pinching of the nerves going into the hand can especially affect the muscles that move the thumb. If not treated these muscles can deteriorate and you can get grip weakness. It sounds like you need to be seen by a hand or nerve expert.
