Rehab: They will help him get his strength back and make sure his balance good and give him correct techniques for mobilization. Length of stay depends on his situation but could be week or so.

Unfortunately, : Unfortunately, this is not a question we are allowed to answer in a public forum.  Each physician groups sets its own fee schedule.  They are not permitted to discuss the fee schedule with physicians outside the group because of racketeering laws designed to prevent price-fixing.

This plan has completely back-fired, since the insurance companies are able to price-fix and the physicians are unable to unite to make reasonable rates.  What happens is, the physicians set their rates very high in an attempt to capture the random insurer who will pay the top rate.  The rest of the insurers pay at a negotiated, much lower rate.  However, cash-pay patients have to pay the full rate and various laws about fraud prevent giving discounts.

Whereas insured patients covered the costs of the uninsured in the past, it is now the reverse!

do many ophthalmologists do cataract surgery in their own office or does a person usually have it done in an outside facility or hospital?

Accepted Answer

Yes: As time passes and government/insurance mandates makes group practice more common, it is more efficient to build a surgery suite in your office. Perhaps 15% of practices do this currently. Most use a free standing surgery center for cataract surgery but may move to office based surgery in the not too distant future.

Many variables: Was he ambulatory prior to fracture? Intact mental status or dementia? Good candidate for (inpatient) rehabilitation? Any other complication factors? Orthopedic surgeon, physical therapist &amp; Family Doc can discuss best option for him.

i am going to have double knee surgery. i have no one to watch me at home so i wd like to go to a rehab facility. am i subject to blood clots in a facility as they won't get me up enough & infections or am i better to come home with help?

: Rehab facility should and does have physiotherapy and care after knee surgery otherwise your surgeon wont send you to one. Confirm by asking her/him

The : The best advice to start with would be to ask your neurologist for a neurosurgical recommendation.  They can advise you on a highly-respected neurosurgeon in your area for an evaluation.  As you live in denver, you could also call the university of colorado medical school in denver, ask for the neurology department, and ask for a recommendation.

Yes: If you are receiving any kind of IV anesthesia, it is usually required to bring someone on the day of surgery to take you home.

Don't worry: You might need a pre-operative valium if you are a nervous sort.  The staff in lasik surgery suites and well organized to provide a calm and comfortable experience.  The procedure is rapid and painless.  You will have visual blur for about 12 hours and then rapid improvement.

Sometimes: Most of the time surgeries are performed as an outpatient or elective inpatient basis at an ambulatory surgical center or one of dr. Zadeh's affiliated hospitals. There are times when dr. Zadeh will perform very minor procedures such as an incision and drainage of an abscess in the office under local anesthesia.

Male Sexuality: In america a surgeon would have sent a patient home with instructions about this situation. I am not sure the medical culture about this in india.  But, in general i would say within a day or two of surgery as long as this does not increase your pain. If you are still having post-op pain then i would use pain levels as your guide on when to resume normal activities.
