Aging changes: Disc desiccation refers to loss of water content in the discs as a result of aging. Facet hypertrophy is degenerative arthritis of the joints between the vertebral bodies. A bulging disc is one that protrudes out to some extent into the spinal canal. All of these are just descriptions. Significance depends on how these findings relate to your symptoms and physical exam.

Joint degeneration: There is a pair on joints, one right, one left, to the side of the spinal canal (the channel for the nerves to and from the legs). They are behind the disk and vertebral bodies (biggest part of spinal bone). Arthropathy is degeneration, or wear & tear. It is sometimes called arthritis, but arthrosis is more accurate. It can be painful; it can also cause nerve pressure, that is leg pain.

The lumbar: changes are degenerative/arthritic in nature.  It is possible that these changes were initiated by a prior  traumatic event, but in the vast majority of cases, there is no identifiable inciting factor.  The same holds true for the cervical bulge.

It means that : the disc between the 5th lumbar &amp; 1st sacral vertebrae has developed a weak spot that allows the soft pulpy inside to bulge out. The rest has to do with the places where vertebrae connect. HEADS UP: Words really aren't enough here. ASK to review the images with the doc. You deserve an explanation in terms you understand. BUT, you also owe it to yourself to do your homework. Read up about it first.

Pain in the low back: Spine vertebra look like a dense circle of bone with an Eiffel Tower sitting atop. Spinal cord lies between the legs of the tower, and discs sit over the body (dense circle of bone). towers touch at the bases at FACETS, joints, which glide with spine movements. As these become worn (arthritic) movement causes inflammation. Spinal nerves exit the cord behind the bodies.  All get irritated and pain.

If you think of the back of the spine where there are portions that line up like shingles on a roof-these contact points allow for support and movement.  The facets are these contact points and are very important for structure and support. In cases where there these are compromised, pain can ensue.

Yes: yes, it is unusual. One has to look for other causes of metabolic bone disease or endocrine disease of parathyroid diabetes or malformation of the adjacent joints or vertebra.
