i am taking augmentin for a uti. it is giving me fits (literally!)--constant muscle twitching, trembling, chills, and exacerbating a head tremor of mine. it feels like a prelude to a seizure. i'm scared. should i change to another antibiotic?

Not augmentin: Neither augmentin nor any other antibiotic is likely to cause such symptoms. Discuss with the doctor who prescribed it.

Parkinson's is way: down on the list of possibilities.  The only way to find out is to visit your doctor.  Osteoarthritis and low magnesium are other more benign possibilities.  Peace and good health.

hi, im scared of bulbar als. ive had widespread muscle fasc./twitches along with many in my face, jaw, and neck and feel as if i have an internal tremor. my pcp didnt seem concerned after testing cranial nerves, etc. and looking @ tongue. do i be?

: Unless you have a genetic family history of spinal muscular atrophy or the rare ALS variant, there is no rationale to fear "bulbar ALS" at age 32.  You probably suffer benign fasciculations, assuming your thyroid functions are normal.  Suggest you work with a counselor to conquer your anxieties.

Neurophthalmologist: Your symptoms need complete neurophthalmology evaluation. Twitching of eye lid alone should not be a problem, however, with headache, sob, vertigo may mean something much more significant.

Need seen: Acute tics need evaluated.  If huntingtons disease doesn't run in your family, most acquired tics are autoimmune in etiology and are treatable.  Other potential causes include drug related.

Consider treatment: Don't think you can prevent, but can treat. One of the most common reasons for head shaking is essential tremor. This can be fairly severe (think katharine hepburn), but for most it is much milder. There are a fair number of medications to reduce this symptom.

See a neurologist: You're developing a tremor or some kind of hyperkinetic or dyskinetic movement disorder. It may be benign &amp; treatable with meds, or it may be a sign of something more serious. Can't tell based on your post. There's no treatment without diagnosis; in other words, you can't make "it" stop without knowing what "it" is. You need to find out.

Please repost: Your symptoms sound very bothersome and concerning to you. Please repost and explain why, if you are so worried about this, you have not seen a doctor about it. Because this could be any number of things. Your description of your symptoms is only the beginning, not the end, of the diagnostic process. Between your symptoms &amp; “what is wrong with me” can be a long step.

is it common to get pinky and side of palm tremors and twitching?

If occasionally: People have some twitching of the adductor digity minimy which will move the little finger away from the rest of the fingers. It feels like twitching or spasm, and this is not unusual.  If constant u should have it evaluated by initially by ur pcp, if not see a neurologist.
