hello doctor recently i am having slight pain in my left eye is it a symptom of black fungus / mucormicosis ?

: Slight pain is likely dry eye. Try artificial tears. Mucormycosis is a blinding and sometimes deadly disease that can cause rapid vision loss and orbital swelling. The frequency is on the rise in India after the Covid wave and increased corticosteroid use. If you are not immunocompromised, for instance with diabetes mellitus, the chance of mucormycosis (or aspergillosis) is very unlikely.

is there an eyelid fungus cream safe to use?

Accepted Answer

If used properly: There is no anti-fungal cream that I am aware of that is formulated to be safe around the eyes.  Most antifungal creams, however, could be safely used around the eyelids if you use them very sparingly, rubbing the cream into the skin and avoiding rubbing the eyes or sweating such that the cream comes in contact with the eye surface.  If it does get in the eyes, you'll want to flush it out well.

No: Fungal eye infections are rare and dangerous.  It is not likely you have a fungal eye infection.

is it possible to have eye lash fungus from old mascara?

Accepted Answer

Very unlikely: Eyelash fungus is really, really rare.  Fungus on the body grows in continuously moist, warm areas.  If there were fungus in old mascara, it would almost never take root in the lashes.  Other infections might be much more likely although still uncommon.  But don't worry about eyelash fungus.

my sister has redness in the eye. with water coming out and fungus like substance since 2-3 days. today she couldn't even open her eye.she took drops.

Needs evaluation: Conjunctivitis or bleharitis. You eye care doctor will give you the appropriate treatment.

No: unless you are immunosuppressed this is not likely to happen

yesterday, truck blew by & white thing went into eye. might been fungus. live on kauai. eye felt something in it. did top lid over bottom, splashed water. saw guck/something, couldn't get. later felt it but couldn't see it. eye sore today. doc visit?

Worth a Dr. Visit: Even if there isn't a foreign body still in your eye, you may have a scratch or an ulcer because of it, which will need a topical antibiotic. If there is something still stuck in your eyelid or the eye itself, you doctor will also need to remove it, and possible refer you to an eye specialist. If you wear contact lenses, don't wear those until a doctor can check you out. Heal well!

9month old white flacky spot on neck and  near his eyes.doctor told fungus.now spot near eye color is pale but spread around eye.also many on chest?

Ezema: I do not think fungus would explain this rash. Infantile atopic or seborrheic dermatitis would be more like. A pediatric dermatologist consult would be helpful for a consult.

hi ocular pressure, blepharoconjuctivitis, growths on tonsils & back of throat. got antibacterial eye drops &zithromax no change. herpes or fungus?

Pressure: High eye pressure usually does not accompany conjunctivitis.  Conjunctivitis has many causes, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, allergies, etc.  If the antibiotic didn't work, then i would worry about a resistant bacteria, or virus, or yeast, or a non-infectious cause.  I would make an appointment with your primary doctor and an eye doctor to have this checked.
