Appt time: The baby can have bacterial conjunctivitis, to nasolacrimal obstruction, viral infection--he/she really needs to be seen.  As far as lymph nodes the one near the ear is located inferior to the ear not behind it.

No: A blocked tear drainage duct is common in infants and usually resolves without treatment by age 1.  In adults, it is much less common and can be corrected by surgery.

: Short answer: yes.  The tear duct is a long tube that goes from the inner eyelids down to the bottom of the nose to an area called the inferior meatus.  Anything that causes the nose to be congested can also cause the tear duct to swell, too.  This is why patients with allergic rhinitis oftentimes will tear up.

The area to massage is on the side of the "nasal bridge."  you can massage the are 3 times per day for 30 seconds each time. It is not very clear how effective massaging is but 90% of these blocked tear ducts resolve by 6 month of age, sometimes even without massaging!

Sometimes that needs surgery to open.A stye is a blocked, and usually infected gland in he eyelid at the base f an eyelash. Can often be treated with compresses and antibiotic drops.

As long as block is+: As long as the bloch is there , there is increased tearing otherwise called crocodile tears or ephiphora in medical term as there is tearing without emotional element causing it. Surgery consultation and options suggested by the eye surgeon  are the solutions.

: Yes, it can appear near the opening of the tear duct. You just apply warm compress three to four times a day. It should resolve in a week. If it persists after 2 weeks, it may need I&amp;D (incise and drain).
