how much eye goo is too much eye goo (mucus)?

no defined limit: The eye will collect mucus when it is dry or has certain illnesses.  This can be annoying and may block vision.  If you have enough that you are constantly wiping and putting eyedrops in the eyes, then you should have this evaluated by your ophthalmologist.

i have excess eye goo when using cpap, what to do?

Protect eyes: CPAP masks commonly leak and cause eye dryness. This will lead to reflexive tearing during the night and buildup. A couple of things to try based on your tolerance and comfort...onion goggles to protect your eyes while sleeping or use some paper tape to close your eyelids during sleep. Basically, anyway to prevent the constant movement of air across your eyes while sleeping from the CPAP mask.

Allergy?: While you may have had a sensitivity to the mascara, the "stringy goo" you're now having could simply be seasonal allergies.  I would recommend seeing an ophthalmologist to be sure.

Watery eyes: You infant may have plugged tear ducts. Ask your pediatrician how to massage the tear ducts at your next well baby visit. For now, use a cotton ball with warm water to wash away the green gunk.

Possible: corneal abrasion. Please check in with your ophthalmologist for an examination to check for possible corneal abrasion.

Yes: This sounds like an infection and your baby will need an antibiotic eye drop.  It may also mean a blockage of the tear drainage system.  It should be checked out. And treated properly.

Gently: I use a clean wet q-tip and carefully sweep away or roll away the collected mucus from the corner of the eye. It may require more than one q- tip. You may also use a clean wet washcloth too.
