Conjunctivitis: If your eye is crusted shut sounds like you have conjunctivitis.  You should probably start drop or ointment for that.

Blepharitis, allergy: Most commonly, this would be blepharitis (chronic inflammation of the eyelids).  The mainstays of treatment are daily hot compresses to the eyelids coupled with careful, gentle eyelid/eyelash washing with dilute baby shampoo or a commercial wipe like ocusoft.  If your vision is affected, symptoms are worsening or don't respond to the above, see your eye doctor.

Depends: It depends on the cause of the crustiness and depends on what you mean by eyedrops.  Just about everything we use in ophthalmology is eyedrops: antibiotics, allergy med, glaucoma med, steroid, nonsteroidal, etc.   If you mean artificial tears, then yes, you could try it, and if the cause was dry eyes, it would help. Best thing though, is to see your eye doctor.

Gpc?: Could be giant papillary conjunctivitis- where the eyes "reject" the contacts. Or, simply pink eye. Stop wearing them and see your eye doctor.

Pink eye: Otherwise know as conjuntivitis, is usually due to a viral infection, such as a cold.  Cool, moist compresses will help you clean off her eyes and soothe them some.  If she gets worse, she needs to see her dr for drops because it can be caused by a bacterial infection.

Seek care: Eye pain with an eye discharge could be early infection. If you are wearing contact lenses, remove ; seek treatment. I would recommend an evaluation to assess cause of problem which would then dictate proper therapy.

Conjunctivitis?: Viral conjonctivitis can cause redness and crusting in both eyes without pain or loss of vision. It is very common and it heals on its own. Sometimes patients can take antibiotic drops if there was a suspicion of bacterial conjunctivitis. It is contagious and the best way to prevent spread is to wash hands and avoid contact with other individuals.

Conjunctivitis: Given the fact eye infection associated with upper respiratory infection, viral conjunctivitis is suspected.  However, since ear infection is also  found not infrequently in this circumstance,  I would recommend her be checked by her primary care provider.

Viral vs allergy: The symptoms can be either related to seasonal allergies or a viral infection. It is best to have him evaluated by a doctor to determine which one it is.
