Whooping cough: There is little chance that your baby can develop whooping cough if your baby has received the 3 injections of the dtap vaccine by the time s/he is 6 months old.
This will be a good time for all children and adults in the household to get their boosters.

i was exposed to whooping cough at work.  i am vaccinated as are my two sons (4 and 10).   does my 10 year old need a booster?

Yes: Your 10 year old should definitely a booster vaccine.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a TdaP vaccine for 10 year olds as a routine vaccine, and some states even require it before attending 5th grade.  Although there is a low risk of him getting whooping cough from your co-worker if he has not been in direct contact with him/her, your son needs the vaccine anyway.

best way to rid of a chronic "viral" cough that has lasted for 9 weeks? i have been to two doctors who cleared me for whooping cough and any infection

Allergies: This is not likely viral but is very likely allergic.  You could start with an over-the-counter allergy medication like Allegra or zyrtec.   Use a neti-pot to clean your nose.  Drink lots of water.   You may need a nasal steroid but you will need to a doctor for that.  Good luck!

i had two seizures from the whooping cough vaccine as a child. with my first child on the way it's recommended i get it to protect her. am i able to?

Yes!: In the old days, we gave a whole cell pertussis vaccine which worked well, but had real, though rare side effects like seizures and encephalopathy. The vaccine has since been improved and we give an acellular version now and the side effects rate is much lower. In fact, it is much more likely that your child will suffer from pertussis the disease than have a reaction to the vaccine.

my daughter is 3months but 6 weeks pre term and she has whooping cough she was put on antibiotics for two weeks now she id burping and it stinks of ro?

Antibiotics: May have changed the normal bacteria in her bowel. As long as she otherwise we'll try a course of probiotics to see it this helps. She also may be experiencing some reflux which resolves as she becomes more upright. All the best.

No: No. There is no interaction between those or any shots and the HIV test.

Probably nothing but: The normal x-ray just means that it does't have calcification, not that it isn't there.  The fact that it fluctuates in size is intriguing.  You'll have to go into more detail to explain what maneuver makes it larger or smaller.  No diagnosis seems reasonable at the moment.

Not likely: If his vaccines are current. The cough is of short duration and appears to be contagious, likely a cold. Supportive care to include increased fluid intake, cool mist humidifier, saline drops/sprays,  lemon&amp; brown honey etc to relieve symptoms. If nocturnal persists / worsens after 1 to 2 weeks it will be necessary to consider other causes; nocturnal asthma, GE reflux etc.

CHILD EXPOSED PERTUS: If your child had all the baby shots then you dont have to worry, he/she is protected and if he comes with disease it may be mild, but if he has not been immunised then you have to consult your pediatrician if the child start with cough and he/she can start the baby on antibiotics.In usa fortunately majority of babies get immunised in first 18 months against whooping cough.

PEP and booster: If you were in close contact with someone with pertussis you might need PEP- post exposure prophylaxis with an antibiotic if you are around pregnant women,children under 1, someone with weakened immune function.  Also get a booster shot- TdaP as soon as possible.
