Not likley: Either you are genetically destined to be bow legged or increasing wear along the inside of the knee with time is causing you to become bow-legged. Rarely a disease process could contibute to bowing of the legs. See an orthopedist for clarity in diagnosis. Unloader braces can be helpful with pain and function but cannot straighten an adult bowed knee.

Bow legs &amp; height: As you grow, yes, bow legs can cause you challenges with height.  When you approach the age where your growth plates close and fuse, you would have reached your adult height, of which timing varies.  Reasons for surgery should include persistent pain from walking or severe limitations because of the bow legs.  Surgery for height, may not be beneficial and expose you to unnecessary surgical risks.

Second opinions:  from orthopedics to included bone density, MRI and a neurological evaluation. Osteomalacia  is a disease that weakens bones and can cause them to break more easily. It is a disorder of decreased mineralization, which results in bone breaking down faster than it can re-form. It is a condition that occurs in adults. In children, inadequate concentrations of vitamin D may cause rickets.

i have bow legs and my fibular sticks out a lot on the side of my leg. is this normal and can i still squat heavy weights despite this?

Probably: Hard to say for sure without knowing the severity of your bowleg issue. But you can do the weight lifting. If you start to have knee pain and problems then see an orthopedic doc. Don't squat excessive weight amounts. Hopefully you are being supervised by an athletic trainer.

: A sport like running is a repetitive sport. Taking the same step after step for miles. Biomechanics, how anatomy functions, is very important along with running shoes. Any biomechanical problems ( malalignment) are propagated with each step taken through the course and length of your run. Runners that are the most successful are usually well conditioned and biomechanically sound.
