Accepted Answer

Eventually but: Your lungs have to heal first !  After healing exercise can usually be readily be resumed ... unless your exercise involves SCUBA diving or summiting one of the 8km peaks of the world.  Nonetheless why not review this with your treating physician about optimally timing.

Not normal: Well, it should not feel like you have fluid in your lungs, but because you may be "out of shape" and just started exercising, you may be getting short of breath from the physical strain you are putting on a body that has not been used to it.  See the Dr. for a good exam and get a monitored program to do that will help you improve your health.  HR may go up with short bouts of exercise.

Cardio or weights!: As long as your heart rate is kept about 70% of 220-age in years, you should be ok.  It will take less exertion to get their, but the exercise will improve your perception of lung problems because your heart will be more efficient!

Incentive Spirometry: Is what they use in the hospital when you're sick and debilitated. If you're healthy, your lung function and capacity is hard to improve much. Most of the improvement during exercise is due to improved function of the heart.

Aerobic, arm/depends: There are 2 separate questions here, both great! exercise is recommended for lung patients, with an emphasis on aerobic conditioning but also upper body weight training--which helps when short of breath. For fibrosis, chances of "removal" or cure depends on the cause. If no cause is known, less chance for resolution. See a pulmonologist (lung specialist) for evaluation.

Cardio: Cardiovascular exercise will condition the heart and lungs to improve oxygenation in general.

i have 70 % lung capacity but it drops to 50 - 53% when im ill. what type of exercise can i do to work it up to 80% or  am i being unrealistic.?

Rehab: Pulmonary rehab includes high exercise level practicing. One of the most important things.

Needs follow up with a lung specialist!

I presume: That ee stands for eosinophlilic esophagitis. Asthma is often associated with this. I had one case of ee (if that is what the initials mean) who had severe vitamin b1 deficiency caused by a lifetime of sugar craving. I suggest that you stop all forms of sugar and sweeteners.

No science here: Lung capacity / size increases some in marathon runners because of the extra extreme exertion changing the chest wall shape. There's no magic in rhythmic breathing -- i've seen only pseudoscience here. Unless you have asthma, it's your heart and not your lungs that limits your running capacity. Did you ever hear of real olympic or pro-team coaches incorporating this stuff?

i suffered from bronchitis during most of my childhood, the problem am facing now is when i exercise my lungs can't keep up and i tend to breath heavily (more than normal). can the two be related?

Yes: The label of bronchitis is often applied to kids with mild cough variant asthma. Those with this process can always have a susceptibility to lung problems throughout life although they may rarely if ever wheeze. Having a family member with asthma increases the  chance one can have such problems without active asthma.
