No tendon: There is no tendon that runs from the hip to the ankle. The only structures that do the are the skin, blood vessels and nerves.

No: not generally...look for a HIP problem...specifically a hip bursitis ("trochanteric" ). A specific examination by your GP, Family Physician or PCP can detect this and an injection of cortisone is usually very effective treatment.

See your doctor : You have a specific diagnosis, so the doc who gave you that and sent you to pt needs to now re-evaluate. Accupunture will not speed the healing of your connective tissue. If rest and pt aren't helping, then maybe surgery is indicated.  But be patient, and follow your doctor's advice.

I do not know: Perhaps a surgeon can weigh in here as well. If you have a psoas problem i would suggest seeing a chiropractor and a neuromuscular massage therapist. You may be able to get release/relief non surgically.

i hurt my hip doing the limbo. i don't think it dislocated, but maybe a tendon or muscle tore on the front of the hip. 2 weks later and hurts?

See doctor: Sounds like this is possibly a hip flexor strain (illiopsoa) based on the location you described. Other possibilities 
include capsular strain of the hip joint, labral tear of the hip joint, or other muscle/tendon injury. Since pain has persisted would have this checked out by your primary care physician or a sports medicine physician to pin down the diagnosis and get treatment plan.

my husband complains of pain at the junction of his thigh and butt. he says he has trouble sitting. he thinks it's his hip. could he be right? if not, what else might it be? i was thinking tendon or muscle issues?

Possibilities: Could be from hip, but also might be lumbosacral spine, sacroiliac joints, piriformis muscles.  In other words, these things are challenging to sort out.  Perhaps seeing a physiatrist, getting exam and imaging can reveal pain generator
