Accepted Answer

Yes: All of us have different tolerances and susceptibilities to alcohol. It could be the cause but your primary care physician or a neurologist should also look for other types of neuropathy as some are treatable.

i have gastroparesis due to nerve damage. i may not be able to eat for 2-3 days since my stomach is full. is there any way to induce stomach-emptying?

Yes: There are meds and there is a pacemaker for the stomach too. See a gastroenterologist who is interested in motility for help.

can a spinal disc issue at c6/c7 induce pain that mimicks wartenberg's syndrome in the wrist, and cause nerve pain in the elbow (like when straightening out the arm)?

Accepted Answer

: No, this misconstrues different concepts.  Unless the disc compresses the C7 nerve root, there  will be no radiating symptoms in the arm.  If there is radiculopathy, there will be numbness over dorsal hand and extension weakness, but no specific localized sensory radial issue, otherwise.  Straightening at elbow suggests more of a tendinitis, as weakness of extensors do not equal pain per se.

It doesn't always do: That. In some cases it makes it better. Perhaps there is something else wrong.

Exercises: I would expect that you would hurt less over time by continued to walk or exercise as long as you are not doing it to excess.

Accepted Answer

Not effective: Unfortunately chemo related neuopathy is not easy to treat. Standard options include trials of nurontin, Lyrica (pregabalin) or Cymbalta plus pain medicaions. Otc drugs used include vitamins suh as pyridoxine, b vitamins or glutathione or capsaicin cream but they may be not too helpful.

Peripheral neuropath: Most commonly presented as numbness/decreased sensation and tingling on your fingers and toes (stocking-glove pattern) . When it is worse it can then be presented as  pain / discomfort on your hands and feet. ( painful neuropathy). Sometimes, particular chemotherapy like oxaliplatin also can give you cold induced pain.
Chemo induced neuropathy - usually is accumulative.

No exercise.: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) interferes with human DNA gyrase in maintaining tendon integrity and potentially rupture a tendon.As a matter of interest this occurs more in animals,like dogs.I would wait 3 weeks after completion of antibiotic therapy to help any weakened tendons to strengthen.Then you can be unleashed!(to exercise). believe the neuropathy comes from a different mechanism.

how do i tailor this program to my chronic illness (multifocal motor neuropathy). some weeks i will be able to do more exercise (swimming) but every 4th week is ivig treatment so i can't exercise that week.

Are you sure?: I am not aware of any precaution on exercise after IVIG and I have prescribed this treatment often enough.  Do check with your doctor to confirm the need for this precaution.
