Get checked: If this has been an ongoing problem for more than a couple of weeks, then you likely either have chronic rhinitis or bronchitis.  An evaluation can help to pinpoint the problem (anything from allergies, chronic irritation, lung problems, structural sinus problems, etc).  Getting it to stop will depend upon the primary problem. Possible diagnoses include asthma, acute bronchitis due to infection (less likely if symptoms persist for months), chronic bronchitis, a form of COPD usually due to smoking. You need to see your doctor for diagnosis as they all have different therapies. If you smoke, you need to quit asap.
