Reported but rare: Depression has been occasionally reported with Zantac (ranitidine) but usually after taking for several days and more likely in "severely ill elderly patients." So if this was a reaction it is unusual; I wonder if you reacted to the fillers or binders instead of the medicine. This may just be a coincidence but the only way to find out would be to try it again...

Any wise doctor would sit down with you to get to the root of this problem and would most likely recommend starting on a journey that may include some medications and therapy. Counseling or life coaching with a good trusted  therapist may very well bring you back to a place where you can experience joy again.

Psychiatric meds may be indicated. Spend time w people. Use your support system. Get out. Don’t stagnate at home. Get at least 8 hrs of sleep/ night ; eat healthfully.

Depression is a disorder that causes one to derive no pleasure out of usual activities, to be unmotivated, to not care, to be unproductive. To see gloom where there is none. To be flat, unable to have appropriate emotion.  If youre concerned about being depressed, see your doctor right away. It's treatable.
