i am taking fioricet for migraines. not working like excedrin migraine, but that causes intolerable side effects. excedrin has aspirin. is it safe to combine a small aspirin dose with fioricet?

That is safe: It may help you to take 1 excedrin 3 times per day for 3-4 days.  For long-lasting migraine headaches, sometimes other remedies are helpful, such as the medicines amitriptyline or propranolol.

i take aspirin every day (via excedrin) for headaches. is there anything else i can take that works as good as asprin but without the side effects? nothing over the counter works. even with migraine scrip i still need excedrin, mostly bc of muscles?

: Aspirin taken occasionally can relieve headaches, but when taken daily, aspirin overuse headaches are known to occur. NSAID meds like advil or aleve are less apt to cause pain medication overuse headaches. I recommend being evaluated by a neurologist with special interest in headache treatments or visit a headache clinic for accurate diagnosis &amp; best treatment.

No: It is better for you to avoid aspirin, however, the dose and the circumstances under which you took the medication is not a cause for concern.

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

No: Most Excedrin formulations contain 250 mg aspirin, with Acetaminophen and caffeine.  Aspirin for prevention of cardiovascular events, is usually dosed at 81mg or 325 mg.  The other ingredients are unnecessary and carry their own risks.  Caffeine, in particular, may raise blood pressure. Aspirin has risks also.  Make sure you really need it by discussing the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Depends: Aspirin and Excedrin together increase risk of bleeding, so generally not advisable.  Also, the Excedrin will reduce some of the positive effects of the aspirin.  However, without knowing in particular why you are taking the aspirin, it is difficult to offer accurate advice, sorry.

It depends: What you take depends on if you are treating inflammation or other pain generators.  At the recommended doses excedrin can be helpful.  Watch out for the caffeine content.

Migraines: Maybe from a combination of migraine and muscle contraction (tension) headaches.  Migraines are often triggered by poor sleep and eating habits as well as stress. Consider sleeping and eating meals on a fixed scheduled. Stress reduction such as meditation may help. There are multiple treatments for migraine.  Acetaminophen works differently from NSAIDs and the actions are at least additive.

why is the dose of excedrin migraine limited to two pills per day even though the ingredients can be taken individually at higher doses? two pills is 500mg each of acetaminophen and aspirin. the upper limit of both is much higher if taken separately?

: The maximum dose and frequency for both Acetaminophen and Aspirin is 1 gram every 6 hours, with a total 4 grams per 24 hours. Caffeine can be safely taken with a maximum daily dose of 400mg. However, Excedrin Migraine has a manufacturer’s label that says the dose is 2 pills a day.
