Imbalance can just lead to suboptimal levels of hormones/vitamins and fatigue or disease processes.  Traditional medicine waits for the disease to treat, integrative medicine will treat imbalance.

Thankfully, the body knows exactly how to respond to various conditions, so that homeostasis is dynamic, not static.
