A member asked:

What happens to the endocrine system if homeostasis is not maintained?

Is imbalanced: The body tries at all times to maintain balance but this can be disrupted by trauma, illness, diet, weight, environmental pollutants, smoking, drinking and drugs (illicit and prescribed). Imbalance can just lead to suboptimal levels of hormones/vitamins and fatigue or disease processes. Traditional medicine waits for the disease to treat, integrative medicine will treat imbalance.

Depends: If the endocrine system is not maintained well, hormones start to be disrupted, various things can happen. Depending on the hormone you can have weight gain, loss of muscle, increase in inflammation, fatigue, poor sleep. This all starts the process towards dis-ease which eventually if not stopped leads to disease. Integrative medicine works on balancing the body at all times.
