Vitamin E: The requirement for vitamin e  fora pregnant woman is25-30 mg per day. High doses of vitamin e would be 400 mg per day.

Accepted Answer

Yes: No more than 10, 000 iu of preformed vitamin a should  be taken during pregnancy but preformed vitamin a is only found in animal foods (meat, eggs, dairy). There are no vegetarian sources of actual vitamin a- any "vitamin a" said to be in those foods are from carotenes and those are very safe in pregnancy. EVOO is good: The amount of vitamin e that one would consume in a normal amount of food with extra virgin olive oil should be safe to consume.    Just don't go and drink a whole cup of oil at once.

Accepted Answer

Evion 400: seems to be a vitamin E supplement. Supplemental vitamin E is not recommended for use in pregnancy.  Small amounts may be included in prenatal vitamins, but higher doses of vitamin E may cause problems including heart issues in the baby. I would not recommend taking vitamin E supplements in pregnancy. Stay well:)

Yes: It's basically just sugar and aspartame (nutrasweet).  As long as you don't have phenyketonuria, you can take it.  I am not a fan of aspartame anytime, and i think it's especially important to avoid as many artificial chemicals during pregnancy as possible, so i wouldn't recommend nauzene. There are other nausea treatments that i'd use first (try ginger tea).

Yes: By Brinjal, do you mean Eggplant? Only in the Indian cultures Brinjal is suggested to be avoided during pregnancy (Ayurveda) A normal eggplant has lots of vitamin A, dietary fiber iron. These are essential nutrients that are needed during pregnancy. It is believed that eggplants contain large amounts of phytohormones that may cause contractions so  use your judgement. Moderation is key.

Obstetrics: I am not sure what you are asking. In the U.S. The moment one knows they are pregnant they go to see an obstetrician who runs all kinds of tests, gives literature to read and a schedule on how often and when they should be monitored.  I am not sure of the culture there in india.

Illegal opiates: There are a lot of things to NOT do during pregnancy, but I want to focus on the overuse of opiates by pregnant women and the impact on their unborn children who go through drug "withdrawal". There are several studies about the rising use of these drugs by pregnant women recently and it is a bad testimony to our profession (healthcare) to convey this message to the general public.

Food in pregnancy: Of course avoid alcohol completely. Minimize caffeinated products. Avoid deli meats and unpasteurized cheeses. Minimize fish consumption to twice weekly.
