Normal: Yes. Some times it makes noise. It depends upon the tupe of the monitor. Newer generation doesn't make noise.

Event recorder: I believe that this type of heart monitor has to be activated by the patient at the time symptoms are felt as opposed to a loop which records continuously. It's best to check with your physician, cardiologist or the cardiac department where the monitor was put on you.

Various: Symptoms that due not occur every day may not be caught on a monitor that just lasts 24 hours.  If you are dealing with a more serious arrhythmia, longer analysis gives your doctor more information.

just had a holter monitor. was told it was fine. at the bottom of report it says "patient diary was submitted, symptoms noted, no patient events noted." 
does that mean the stuff i recorded feeling didn't show on the monitor? thanks!

Maybe: Sounds like the report is saying that the doctor saw the patient's notes but did not see unusual events happening at the times the patient noted symptoms. Of course, the patient always has a follow-up appointment to discuss test results and can confirm what the results mean at that appointment.

Sounds like the report is saying that the doctor saw the patient's notes but did not see unusual events happening at the times the patient noted symptoms.
