Yes if untreated: If untreated barrett's ulcer of of esophagus , will tranforms to cancer , as already there is mucosal change ( sqamous  metaplasia ) , there is high incidence of malignency and need close observation.

Yes: In fact, that is why we keep an eye on it, and biopsy it from time to time to be sure there are no very precancerous-lookng cells. Several percent of barretts' turn cancerous.

Yes but...: Chronic gerd can indeed lead to esophageal cancer.Chronic reflux causes chronic irritation to the inner lining of the lower esophagus.Over time, this causes cells to change into a different form, called barrett's esophagus, which can then further transform to dysplasia and, eventually, cancer. Gerd should be treated with medication and lifestyle, and screening endoscopies. See your doctor.Good luck.

Depends: Esophageal cancer is caused by a number of factors.  Eating smoked or cured meats has been shown to be a risk factor for developing esophageal cancer in many studies.  Other risk factors include smoking, alcohol use and chronic acid reflux from the stomach.  So i would encourage you to find a new favorite food.  :).

Common concern: Is difficulty swallowing, particularly with meat or doughy foods like a bagel, but usually it is there all the time.  An esophageal spasm can mimic this, and be quite uncomfortable. You may need imaging and endoscopy. Go to a center that has endosopic ultrasoound. I've had spasms and have been scoped twice. Go and be sure.
