Moist heat: Moist heat and/or massage.  If it persists, don't hesitate to be seen to determine if there is an underlying cause.

Rest: This is a group of muscles that are responsible for extending the back and maintaining posture.  As such, it can take a bit longer than other muscle groups to heal after a strain.  It should still not take more than 2-4 weeks for a simple strain.

Back spasm: The lumps may be the bony prominences in this area or can be a muscle spasm.  If your pain is persistent and radiates down a leg, imaging may be needed to help with diagnosis. The leaning forward is a way of decompressing the spinal canal. This may take pressure off a nerve root. If leaning back exacerbates pain, i recommend seeing your doctor and possible imaging.

Musculoskeletal pain: You are describing significant pain and spasm in your back muscle. This is almost always related to primary muscular strain. It does not sound like a disc problem. Stretching, heat and massage would all be helpful. If you're doing some athletic activity or workout, this may be aggravating your back. Be careful with proper lifting mechanics. Do you have a new mattress? Pillow between legs at night.

Mass: Consider a non malignant lipoma. Regardless, of what i think, you should have a physician evaluate it.

Depends on size, but: If it is large enough, yes.  Have a surgeon look at it, because large lipomas could be liposarcoma, a malignant tumor.

Maybe: If the lipomas were in the muscle the answer may be yes. If they were over the muscle but not in them then probably not. See your doctor. There may be something going on.
