Rarely: This is quite rare but can occur in partial complex seizures during which the patient is capable of semi-purposeful activity and is restrained or redirected from the aim of his/her attention. Misperception of environmental stimuli, in certain circumstances, could also provoke this.

For seizures: Some are at risk for epilepsy- major head trauma, stroke, brain infection, strong family history are risks.  Some get warnings of seizure: funny smells, tastes, abnormal feelings in stomach, shaking of an arm or leg. These may be beginnings of seizures.

?nocturnal events?: Myoclonic jerks upon falling asleep are well within the normal range of behavior and do not signify epilepsy.  Such jerks while asleep may be true nocturnal myoclonus. more commonly termed PLMS, and is a sleep disorder, not epilepsy.  However, if jerks do occur sporadically during day in addition to above, get evaluation for possible epilepsy.

i had epilepsy 3 years before i've stopped eating medicines still i didn't get any sign of epilepsy but i'm facing depression and insomnia and lot of headache should i start eating medicines or i'm fit?

Time to see doc: You need help for 2 reasons.
1. Your current symptoms- depression, insomnia and headaches that need to be addressed timely in order for you to remain functional
2. Lack of sleep will make you prone to a seizure as it will decrease significantly your seizure threshold.
Start with your pediatrician or GP who knows your medical history best.

my mother is forgetting a lot lately , she lost some of her skills.(she has some not strong epilepsy, she is under meds) what could that be sign of?

Immediately: Usually memory problems associated with personality changes as well as loss of learned skills happen in dementia, however they do evolve slowly and over time. When these symptoms happen relatively fast and are associated with other major symptoms like epileptic seizures then they warrant immediate attention. You need to book your mom with her doctor as soon as possible. Needs full evaluation.

in de novo epilepsy (age 67) mri shows signs of slightly poor brain circulation. is medication for circulation advised? the patient is now on tegretol

Brain circulaton-sz: Why poor circulation ? ischemia  (from clogged vessels)? hypoplastic vessels  ( born with small vessels? carotids? Did MRI show stroke? Do they have a fib? was the seizure  due to stroke/ TIA ( rare)? has the doctor discussed aspirin 81 mg or plavix (clopidogrel) or plental or fish oil ( blood thinners so may cause bleeding) ?  f/u and discuss w/neurology

Request a " section 504" at school for any needed accommodations. .If sunlight precipitates them, wearing a large-brimmed hat when outside may help. occasionally i get an odd smell in my nose, like burning hair. had sinusitis recently, just finished z-pack. used nasal decongestants, expectorant. recently started on wellbutrin, and i read that phantom smells might be sign of a seizure disorder?

Smells: the most common reason would be a sinus infection. Not a sign of impending seizure.Check with an ENT expert.
