Unlikely, unless ...: Unless running shorts' lining rubbing in groin area leading to ingrown hairs which may be mistaken for swollen glands. Consider changing shorts. If no better or actually getting worse, go see your Family Doc for evaluation.

Groind nodes: Everybody has this. Insignificant and unimportant. Don't keep examining yourself: repeated prodding and poking might cause pain and enlargement, making it seem more important. Don't worry about it.

A lymph node "tastes" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and enlarges in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They may be painful.
