SJS: SJS is a severe allergic reaction and can occur following the use of virtually any medication. I don't know the exact incidence with diltiazem but I do know it's exceptionally rare. I prescribe the medication frequently and in &gt;30 years as a cardiologist, I've never seen a case.

CHF med substitute.: Enalapril is an ace-i. It leads to vasodilatation and naturesis.  Thereby decreasing the the cardiac pressures and work the heart has to do to work.  Substitutes are nitrates with diuretic calcium channel blockers.  It is contraindicated in bilateral renal stenosis new renal dysfunction and sulfa allergy to some of them.

Lower blood pressure: Diltiazem is in the class of medications called calcium channel blockers.  Diltiazem is used to lower blood pressure, slow heart rate in certain heart rhythm conditions, and assist in the treatment of angina.  Common brand names are cardizem, tiazac (diltiazem) or dilacor. 

Diltiazem has various immediate release and sustained release formulations so be sure that you are taking it properly.

what is the difference between the medications enalapril and lisinopril and which one is better?

Differences: Both are in a class of medications called ace inhibitors primarily used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Neither is specifically "better" although Lisinopril tends to be slightly better in overall BP reduction. Side effects are similar with persistent cough in about 10% of patients. Both are generic medications.

will diltiazem make my benign pvcs worse or better? (i'm not taking amitriptyline, i don't know how to take the medication off this list)

Better: While diltiazem will not affect the frequency of the PVCs, you will notice them less and they will bother you less while taking diltiazem

i'm on diltiazem medication only. just upped for 60mg x 3 to x 4 a day. my heart rate has come down but thumping heart and pvcs worse. why?

Symptoms: Diltiazem is a vasodilator so you may feel your extrasystoles more than on the lower dose. On the other hand since there is a minimum of information about you here, its best to discuss these questions with your Doc who knows your whole picture.

can enalapril cause veins to be more visible? i can clearly see veins on my palm, before medication i couldn't. other veins on my arm are not dilated.

No: Veins are thin walled, low pressure structures. They fill and become engorged when they're below heart level and they collapse when held above heart level. Try this: raise your hand above your shoulders for 30 seconds and see if you still see your veins?  Enalapril will dilate arterioles (small arteries), especially in your kidney. It has no effect on veins.

she is 8 week pregnant now

hi, my doctor has me on the following medications, levothyroxine because i have no thyroid, clonzepam to help me sleep, atorvastatin 80mg. lisinopril10mg, diltiazem 180mg would these cause cramping in my legs and hands, i take coq10 cramping is worse?

: Atorvastatin is the most likely one of these medicines to cause cramping in your legs and hands. Taking CoQ10 average 200 mg a day can decrease the muscle cramps and aching from atorvastatin another statin trade medicines. Consult with your primary care physician before changing treatment.
