Sensitive Tooth: If a tooth lost tissue and bone, it can expose the junction of the crown and root which is no longer protected by the enamel. See a dentist to make it sure that there are no gum recession,  cracks or  cavity on your tooth. He/ she will also evaluate if you have a deep bite.

Get an exam: If your pain is severe or worsening, by all means get to a dentist. If it is longstanding cold sensitivity especially of a general nature in location, try a desensitizing toothpaste. You could have a cavity needing treatment or it could be exposed roots that may benefit from desensitization. Your safest bet is to see a dentist to be sure.

Yes: Electric toothbrushes are proven to do a better job at keeping your teeth clean, but like with manual toothbrushes, you have to use it!  they do remove more plaque and build-up.  At your next dental visit, you should discuss with your hygienist the proper way to brush with an electric toothbrush.

Brown dot on tooth: There is no way to know what these are without a visual examination. It could be stain, decay, fracture, or decalcification ( a blemish inthe enamal).
See your dentist for an exam and diagnosis.

The one you use: Two favorites are the oral-b and the sonicare. I prefer the first, although many dentists prefer the second. Both are effective if used properly. It boils down to personal preference.

Yes, but....: Electric toothbrushes are fine, but I am more worried that your gums bleed. This has been linked to some rather severe diseases of the body- diabetes, heart attacks and strokes for example. If your dentist isn't addressing the bleeding- finding the cause and discussing how to treat it- get another dentist!

Not right away: Avoid disturbing the area of the extraction for 24 hours then clean it very gently for the first couple of days. After that, your electric toothbrush should be ok if used carefully. The reasoning is to try to avoid the discomfort of a dry socket which can result of the blood clot in the extraction socket is disturbed.

Why not?? : Depends upon the age of the child. Until age 8 or 9, they lack the dexterity to safely and effectively clean their own teeth--so we must rely on the parents. Unfortunately, oftentimes, they aren&#x27;t all that helpful either! I have used floss followed by a sonicare to clean my son&#x27;s teeth every night since he was 3 years old--before that we did it manually. He has no dental issues related to disease.

my electric tooth brush has dry tooth paste all over it. is it safe to wash it in the sink with soap and warm water?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Allow the tooth brush to dry out after you have washed it with soap and warm water to prevent mold or fungal growth on your tooth brush.  Uv sterilizer also could be used.
