what can i do about  elbow tendonitis from weightlifting?

Can you take Aspirin: The best solution to tendonitis is rest, ice and nsaids (non steroidal anti-inflammatories).
Also, if it is on the outside or inside of the elbow it could be characterized as golfer's elbow or tennis elbow and can ebenfit from a brace.
There is now NSAID in cream form -- this is called PENNSAID or voltaren; this is available by rx only though.

i have a vein moving around in my left elbow. it causes some sensitivity in my inner elbow. it is visible and causes some tingling sensations. it has gotten a little better since i have taken a 2-week break from weightlifting. how could i stop this?

Modify: If you are sure that weight-lifting is causing it, you will need to consider reducing the weight load or modifying your arm position.  The problem will not go away and likely get worse if you continue to do what you had been doing.  Check with a trainer to see what can be done. See doctor if problem persists.

Depends: Most elbows are stable once the injury heals. If you are looking for an extra measure of support or comfort while working out, i would start with a simple slip-on neoprene elbow sleeve. If your elbow feels slightly unstable, you should see an orthopedic, preferably one who is an upper extremity expert. In rare instances, a subtle case of instability can cause problems with weightbearing activities.

Impossible to say: It is impossible to say without an exam. You may need an MRI assuming it is not an epicondylitis. See an orthopedist or rheumatologist.

Other treatment: Other treatments would be physiotherapy, anti infammatory tablets and gels which you can get from chemist or a cortisone and anaesthetic injection into the elbow which can be done by your doctor

“Counter force”: The usual brace for lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is known as a counter force brace, of which there are multiple variations.  It basically consists of a strap that is wrapped around the proximal forearm distal to the elbow.  Tightening the brace takes the force of the wrist extensors off of the lateral epicondyle and more onto the brace, giving some rest to that area.  Good question.

Wrist splint: I find that a wrist splint actually works better than a counterforce brace for tennis elbow. The exception is when playing sports such as golf or tennis. A wrist splint works by reducing wrist extension and thus, tension on the common extensor tendon. Try wearing it for most of the day for 10-14 days for acute tennis elbow and then when doing exacerbating activities.

Epicondylitis: If a course of anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or naproxen for 7-10 days isn't effective, consult an orthopedic specialist who may inject corticosteroid medication into the inflamed tissue and then physical therapy.

Use K-Tapes: Kinesio-tapes will support your elbow you are strengthening muscles which when they get strong will get shorter and stronger you need to give this routine a break and work with the opposite directional muscles eg if your routine is flexion use extension exercise and same time use k-tape to support these areas. Steam/sauna heat will relax tight elbow and allow stretch. Ktape cost $12.99.
