Common, Also Careful: False positive & false negative are important but also complex issues, commonly dealt with in a simplistic manner. They only refer to one test showing consistency with something being present when some other test shows consistency with something not being present. Since medical industry about disease, not health, positive means obvious disease (bad), negative means without obvious disease (good).

Lot of Things. Lead: Placement commonly not done properly, electrolytes, meds, syndrome x & vasospasm. Problem with calling it "false-positive" is that there is no perfectly accurate gold standard. We are dealing with behavior, as recorded as voltage against time (that's what an ekg is), there are lots of variables & changes in waveforms can come & go for a large variety of reasons. Can't figure out long distance.

Ischemia: T-wave inversions are usually reflective of poor blood flow to the region of the heart. There are other disorders that can cause this as well. False positive would be unusual. Discuss with your doctor.

Probably: Have you ever had ekg before?  We find many of these abnormalities in kids and are normal for them. Problem is we usually don't do them on kids. Usually they are first found in adults then everyone is worried. I'm site this is just normal for you!

A fib : An ifb can have a low ventricle rate, most of the time has a high rate.  The ventricle rate is usually the one that produces the QRS on the EKG (larger complex waves) .

There can be a lot: of normal variability to the p-wave morphology in V1. More so in women. In general a biphasic or mostly upright p wave is usual. Certainly you could have an ectopic atrial activation in which case the morphology would be altered. Physical positioning (sitting, lying or at 30 degrees) for the EKG will also make a difference. Lead position too. Regardless it is usually of no clinical significance.

i was given ekg/ecg for extensive air force flight physical. no issues whatsoever; pretty healthy although i am positive i have afib. what to do?

NPQ: Not sure why you think that. Pretty unusual in an otherwise healthy and young individual.  However, you should report the symptoms and consider obtaining  the right type of monitor to disclose your suspicion.  This will of course immediately disqualify you from consideration of flight status. Npq.
