i had a vasectomy 5 weeks ago and have ejaculated 25 times. my urologist won't test my semen until 8 weeks. i did 2 "sperm check vasectomy" at home tests a week apart and passed both. am i safe?

: In a vasectomy, the tube that carries the sperm is cut and each end is tied off. There are reports of cases where the tube ends have healed and reconnected. It takes 8 weeks for the healing to be complete and that is why the Urologist will not test you prior to this. You are not completely "safe" until the final test at 8 weeks. Use other forms of contraception including a condom/spermicides.

Remain same...: Vasectomy will affect the volume and color of semen although occasionally few post-vasectomy  patients may see slight blood-tinged semen for 2-3 months. 

But take precaution against pregnancy until post-vasectomy semen exam shows no sperm. Ask the surgeon for detailed advice.

Is it blood: is the dark spot blood either way it could be from your prostate you are getting close to the age when the prostate will start bothering you see a urologist might be able to help good luck

Should be same: Hopefully the only thing missing in your semen is sperm. These are microscopic creatures and don't take up much space/volume of the semen. As a result, your semen quantity/quality/consistency should be about same as before the vasectomy. You may see some blood at first, but this should resolve.  If you have any problem/concern, consult doc. Good luck.

No: According to guidelines published by the american urological association, if there are no mobile sperm observed on a single post-vasectomy semen analysis done 8-16 weeks after the procedure, then you can stop using other forms of birth control.  Recanalization of the vas deferens after this period is extremely rare.

They are trustworthy: Yes those tests are needed to make sure sperm count comes to zero other wise you will get pregnant , as some may have anomalous extra vas , or get re-cannalize ( which is rare also )
