No lasting effect: Fumes can cause your symptoms but should resolve within 1-2hrs with exposure to fresh air and avoiding further exposure to fumes.  If symptoms persist more than 2-3 hours after exposure (and you are not being re-exposed) then best to be evaluated.  Hope this was helpful.  Best of luck.  Dr R

Coughing that won't go away?
Sometimes paint fumes like any chemical inhalation can cause irritation.

If no symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't think anyone can give you any definitive answer on how long it takes to 'go away.' If you have no symptoms you're going to be ok.

Fumes: The amount of exposure is very important - if you think was severe the. Go to er now.  If was awhile ago and want much and was ventilated and baby and everyone else exposed is fine then there isn't anything can be done and probably going to be ok anyway.

Test for lead, X-ray: For peace of mind and a definitive diagnosis, ask you doctor to order blood test for lead and routine chest X-ray. You are young. Your health goals should include no further exposure to dangerous substances. Monitor your  health carefully for any and all changes in mental and physical status. Create a plan to control or offset any health changes.

Spray paint inhalati: If  wheezing, shortness of breath, chest pain/throat tightness   dizziness, nausea,  vomiting  confusion, eye irritation,tremor,headache seek medical attention today , if no symptoms less concern. But would not repeat , use appropriate protection w/ ventilation  masks. Check CMP( blood test for liver/ kidney ) urine. Can call poison control 1 800 222-1222. f/u/ w/ doc

: Face masks do not prevent fumes from paint and related sources, but N95 masks do prevent droplets in interactions with individuals who may have active viruses (influenza and COVID-19 in particular).

Go to ED. : The fume inhalation could have caused an inflammation of the lungs, and her “shimmy” feeling could mean she’s lacking oxygen, which would be troubling. She needs to be evaluated in an ED.

Get fresh air: Get out of that environment. If your symptoms do not clear up in a short period of time, have someone take you to the er.
