Same as w/out: taking with food may slow release a little bit and put off upset stomach but the potential side effects are still there:
loss of appetite, restlessness, insomnia, upset stomach, headaches, anxiety, psychosis, tics, weight loss.. if you or someone you know are experiencing side effects then consider a lower dose or alternate agent. often is a balance of tolerating SEs and having good response.

Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) a bit more.: Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) is about the same potency of d-amphetamine.  Adderall has both d-amphetamine and l-amphetamine, so 15 mg is not quite is about 75% as potent as 15 mg of amphetamine.  That said, individual responses to stimulants vary so much that for any given person, Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) might work much better than Adderall or the other way round.  Dose needs are highly individual and requires trying different doses.

Methylphenidate: (original trade name ritalin) is a mixture of d- and l-methylphenidate. The d- and i- are enantiomers or molecules that are mirror images of each other. Focalin is d- or dexmethylphenidate which is more potent than the l-methylphenidate. Focalin xr is extended release to last longer. Side effects are similar and some people respond better to one versus the other. Both are good options for adhd.

Another option is to get involved in cognitive behavioral therapy specifically designed for add or adhd. Other options are: elavil, norpramin, pamelor, (nortriptyline) tofranil or other tricyclic antidepressants
