Use at least twice a day. For eczema flares, apply prescription strength corticosteroid ointments to problem areas twice a day until clear. Wet dressings (wet wraps) at night with Aquaphor and chlorine baths if more severe

: A short course of strong topical steroids may relieve the itching because scratching may it worse.
Treat or avoid the underlying cause of eczema, e.g. contact dermatitis, avoid scratching which is the hardest task, keep fingernails extra short, and using moisturizer.

Steroid, moistrizer: Initiallyt topical prescription steroids that are strong enough to control problem. This is to be combine with a barrier repair cream so that the frequency or strength of steroid can be reduced. The skin will get used to the steroid and it will stop working. Also treat any accompanying bacterial colonization. Also identify any accompanying contact or food allergies.

Eczema: There is no one best treatment that universally works for everyone. Eczema in infants, for example,  may be transient, triggered by dryness, foods such as eggs, milk protein, soaps or detergent. So avoid the triggers and moisturize the skin. You would have to try and see which moisturizer works best. Try topical steroid starting with otc Hydrocortisone 0.5-1.0% and/or oral antihistamine if severe.
