i have external hemorrhoids, stomach ulcers, eczema behind my knees and am underweight.

could all these be symptoms leading to something? please assist.

Spreading Rash: Yes. Of course. A speeding rash surely needs to be seen and evaluated urgently. I would see if your family clinic can see him tomorrow.

my son has a bruising behind one knee and in the crease of his forarm.  irregular in shape?  we have eczema in my family.

Accepted Answer

Bruises: If you know that these bruises are caused by trauma like vigorous rubbing, then there should be no concern. If there has been no known injury and bruises (ecchymoses) appear elsewhere, a blood or clotting abnormality may be present and a physician should be consulted.

after swimming if i don't have a shower straight afterwards i get itchy where my eczema usually occurs (crease of my arm, behind the knees) what is it?

Eczema: Eczema is a term for several different types of skin swelling. Eczema is also called dermatitis. It is not dangerous, but most types cause red, swollen and itchy skin. Factors that can cause eczema include other diseases, irritating substances, allergies and your genetic makeup. Eczema is not contagious.

i have itchy rash around my chest and neck, and also behind my knees. went to the doctor last year november and she said i had eczema. is this true? if not what could this be?

Hard to know: Rashes often relate to transient issues like illness/allergy/contact with agents. Eczema also goes through variations in intensity &amp; location. A visual exam would make labeling more accurate &amp; since I cannot see it or review any pictures (on this site) you may just need to see your doc to sort it out.

my four year old has always had sensitive skin. at times, she breaks out with a flat pink/red dry looking rash clustered mostly on her face, behind her knees, legs and in the folds of her arms on the front side of her elbows. could it be pediatric eczema?

This : This does sound like possibly atopic dermatitis, which is common form of eczema seen in children.  I would consider using cerave hydrating cleanser (gentle, soapless cleanser), cerave cream to moisturize the skin everyday, and a possible trip to the dermatologist for good treatment options.  For my patients, i often combine the above therapy with prescriptions such as Protopic ointment, desonide ointment, or Cutivate Ointment with pretty good success.  I hope that helps!  take a look at the link below for a picture of eczema that probably is similar to what you are talking about.

i have eczema rashes near my knees. how do i cover them up?

Eczema: You have to be careful in applying anything over eczematous skin as the skin is already inflamed and adding anything is just adding oil to the fire and making the skin more inflamed. Moisturize your skin constantly see your doctor or a dermatologist for good treatment creams.

i have eczema in the creases of my elbows and knees. if my baby has eczema, would it be in the same places?

Not necessarily: Eczema typically presents in the flexor surfaces (elbow and knee crease) during childhood, with involvement of the extensor (elbows, knees, ankles) in adults.  As you see from your own experience, this trend is not universal.  That being said, pattern of eczema is largely individualized, and not necessarily patterned according to familial patterns.

Not unusual: The distribution you describe is typical for eczema in his age group. Continuous use of a moisturizer of the affected areas is critical, as well as a burst of a topical steroid (hydrocortisone) for flare ups. Also maintaining at least 40% humidity in the house. If these do not improve his situation, you should consult his pediatrician.

my baby is 3 months old and has reddish rashes on her cheeks, elbows, and knees.  is it just eczema?

Probably, but: I would not blow it off.  Many infants are allergic to a food that is causing the rash.  Getting an allergy evaluation to determine if a food is related to the rash may help to dramatically improve the rash once the food culprit is eliminated from the diet.
