Get checked.: What we crave often has nothing to do with what our body really needs. If you are worried about iron deficiency, get a check-up by your doc who can order a simple blood test to see if you have an iron deficiency.

Iron deficiency: One can increase the iron level in your body much more quickly with iron supplements than with any type of food.

i have no instance and got denied for 6 months for low iron. now thar i could go back, i have been taking a multivitamin,  iron pill, vitamin c pill to absorb the iron and eating higher iron foods, but its still to low! should i be worried? i can't really

Iron def anemia: Iron def anemia can be either from iron loss, poor absorption or inadequate intake. Iron lost through bleeding( intestinal, gynecological or from trauma/ surgery). Most of iron absorption take place in proximal intestine( duodenum). One more recently recognizable diseases is celiac disease( allergy to gluten) this can be diagnosed through specific blood work and/ or endoscopy with biopsy.

having several very dark bms daily. sometimes urgent/painful + often there's undigested food. not eating extra iron/dark foods. what causes dark stool?

Very dark stools: Very dark stools can be due to blood.  Also pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) will cause dark stools.  See your physician if the symptoms are persisting.

Depends on situation: If you load up months in advance it might actually help fix the problem.A few days ahead of the test would not be long enough to effect anything.

If you are : Not anemic you do not need iron supplementation at all.

Upper normal: Extra iron is usually excreted.
There are some problems, hemosiderosis- tissue iron if very excessive!
moderation is good!

my recent iron: 90 (range 41-186 ug/dl). ferritin 78 (range 14.7-205 ng/ml). 2 months ago, iron 80 - ferritin 60. i'm eating healthier, iron rich foods with vitamin c foods to achieve more optimal ranges. is it encouraging that numbers are higher?

: Yes. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results have improved and are in the normal range.

No restrictions: There are really no dietary restrctions with respect to fears of iron overload.  Iron is preferentially delivered to the baby.  You wouldn't be able to overload on diet alone.

i have blood clot in my left leg so i stopped eating food with vitamin k and now my red blood cell count iron folate (folic acid) b 12 dropped ?

K doesn't cause clot: While Vit K is needed for blood to clot, avoiding K doesn't reduce the risk of clots! The only reason to avoid is if you're on warfarin as K can interfere with it, but research shows being on some K actually stabilizes the effects of warfarin.
